IUI and ICI: Intrauterine Insemination and Intracervical Insemination

Imagine the warm room and gentle hands of a midwife guiding the process of insemination.  Replace the cold paper, florescent lights and stirrups of the doctor’s office with the home-like sweetness of soft natural light, white eyelet curtains, warm blankets, and images of motherhood, surrounded by a sense of serenity and peace as you prepare to welcome your new baby into your womb.  Your partner may be there with you, you may have your favorite songs playing in the background.  The setting feels encouraging and kind- the kind of good-hearted feeling you want when you’re preparing your body for receiving a baby.  It’s lovely.  Take your time after the process, to visualize or to relax.

At Mother to Mother, we’ve been helping women conceive through IUI and ICI for several years.  The process is straightforward and simple: bring in your washed semen for IUI or your fresh semen for ICI and we can inseminate you in our office, with gentle, experienced, respectful hands, using top-of-the-line IUI catheters which direct the sperm toward the fallopian tubes.

How it works:

We start by having you in for an hour-long consult before beginning your first cycle of IUI with us. We will look at your medical history, menstrual history, and any fertility records you have, and get aligned with your calendar, your sperm bank, with us, and we will recommend any supplements or timing that we know to be helpful in achieving pregnancy.

You let us know on Cycle Day 1 and we plan for your insemination according to your best timing for ovulation.  Of course, we can make as many attempts per cycle as you choose.

We may also choose to do pap smears, breast exams, well-woman appointments, and pregnancy confirmation through our midwives.
